Today is Singapore 56th Birthday!

今天是新加坡56岁生日！

Singapore is a small country without any natural resources, so we have never dared to be complacent nor will we make enemies with any country.

新加坡是个没有任何天然资源的小国，所以我们从来不敢自满，也不会和任何国家树敌。

Because Singapore is a small country, we are often bullied.

因为新加坡是个小国，我们经常会被欺负。

In 1965, we were driven out and forced to become independent.

1965年，我们就是被踢出局而被迫独立的。

Thanks to that man who kicked us out of the federation, Singapore has become what she is today.

也多亏当年把我们踢出联邦的那个人，才成就了今天的新加坡。

Just because Singapore is a small country, it is nicknamed by some neighbouring countries prime ministers or ministers.

正因为新加坡是个弹丸小国，而受到某些邻里国家首相或部长取的好多绰号。

These nicknames: Little Red Dot, Booger, LP (Lan Par), Little Brother.

这些绰号：小红点、鼻屎、LP（懒趴）、小弟。

The former prime minister of a neighbouring country even said that if this cat (Singapore) did not listen to them, we would be skinned.

邻国的前任首相甚至说过，这只猫（新加坡）要是不听话，就把皮给剥了。

So how can Singapore not be self-improving?

所以说新加坡哪能不自强不息呢？

Singapore has today's achievements, thanks to a good government that loves the people; it dares to implement unpopular but beneficial policies to the people.

新加坡有今天的成就，多亏有一个爱民的好政府；它敢出台不受欢迎但对人民有利的政策。

Although the policy is unpopular, most people can make sacrifices for the sake of the future.

虽然政策不受欢迎，但多数人民都能为了远景而做出牺牲。

Many foreigners love to laugh at Singaporeans, saying that we have a paternalistic government, that we only do business according to the rules, that the people are obedient and so on.

很多外国人都爱嘲笑新加坡人，说我们家长式政府、做生意只按规矩做办事、人民唯命是从等等。

Singaporeans are not indifferent politically, but we have experienced social turmoil and we all know the importance of a comfortable life.

新加坡人不是政治冷感，而是我们曾经历过社会动荡，都知道安逸生活的重要性。

As far as the current epidemic is concerned, when many people in neighbouring countries are struggling to survive both the pandemic and economy downturn, their politicians only care about  their own political interests! 

就目前的疫情而言，当周边国家的许多人民在疫情和经济不景气中挣扎求存时，他们的政治者却只关心自己的政治利益！

Fortunately, from the COVID-19 outbreak to today, about 70% of the population in Singapore has received two doses of vaccine; 4.36 million people have been vaccinated with at least one dose.

庆幸的是新加坡从冠病疫情到今天，大约70%的人口已经接种了两剂疫苗；436万人口已接种至少接种一剂疫苗。

I am proud of being a Singaporean!

我以身为新加坡人而感到骄傲！

Majulah Singapura!（Onwards Singapore! 前进吧，新加坡！)
