As Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat said: "While other countries had to borrow for their support measures - saddling their future generations with debt - Singapore could draw on its past reserves. We have a strong fiscal position. Our founding generation left us a legacy of a sizeable reserve, which we must continue to treasure and build on."
