As we all know, Bangkok is the capital of Thailand.

In February 2022, The Office of the Royal Society announced the change of Bangkok official name back to Krung Thep Maha Nakhon.

However, the name Bangkok is still recognised and put in parentheses.

But not many people know what the full name Bangkok is.

Officially the longest place name in the world with 168 English letters.

It means: Great City of Angels, City of Immortals, the Magnificent Jewelled City of the God Indra, Seat of the King of Ayutthaya, City of Gleaming Temples, City of the King's Most Excellent Palace and Dominions, Home of Vishnu and All the Gods.

Due to its super long name, not every Thai can remember that too.

In 1989, Thai famous band Asanee Wasan composed it into the song "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon".

Some may ask, why do Buddhists in Singapore and Malaysia celebrate Vesak Day on two different dates this year?

The month May usually has one full moon, but since there are 29.5 days between full moons, there are occasionally two.
